My fun friend
Jen4math came over for a cooking show! She knocked on the door and when I opened it I felt like Mary Poppins had come to the cookie rescue! She makes the best chocolate chip cookies ever. To me. And with my
mom being a chocolate cookie lover and Naz eating chocolate cookies for breakfast each morning on her way out the door to appointments....I decided to ask the chocolate chip cookie expert over to join
Hail to the Chef!

| Here we are in our cute matching aprons and cooking bowls! |
 |
| Here Jen is explain the importance of the extra flour and the use of the straight end of the knife to flatten the top and to dip in to get out the pockets of air. This trick my smart cookie mom already knew.. |
Notes from Jen: Follow the Toll House chocolate chip bag and modify. What I do to modify. I leave the butter out in advance to soften. I put in 3 cups of flour instead of the 2 1/4 cup listed.
I am generous with the brown sugar (more of a mound than a cup full) and vanilla (I end up overflowing the vanilla and use 1 1/2 tsp. I follow the directions exactly and do the dry ingredients separate.

| This is getting serious. |
I use my kitchen aid mixer and that helps to make things go fast. When Jen Poppins was at the door she had her Kitchen Aid mixer in hand. Every girl has one from her wedding registry except me. She left the correct blade at home but we had no time to whine about it so we went with the hand held.
 |
| Mattie Sue didn't care that it was a hand held mixer. |
 |
| Not your mama's cookie dough huh? Smooth like butta! |
 |
| Such a sweet little mixer Miss Mattie Sue! |
 |
| Jen Poppins even uses the meat/melon baller so smart! |
 |
| One happy mama! |
 |
| Love. |
All ovens are not equal. 9 min in my oven at 375. I take them out a little before they look totally done. They sit on a cookie sheet for a minute or so to keep baking a bit out of the oven and then I transfer them to a cooling rack.

Hail to Jen Poppins!
6 notes:
Now I have this sudden NEED to make chocolate chip cookies!! So going to use the tips from Jen!
Sounds like a good Saturday project for me to drowned my heavy heart of not being there. I'm so glad I put two cookies in my bag. I'll have them with my tea in the morning like Naz.
yum! I made these cookies a few weeks ago and was even inspired to buy a cookie scoop from Target but it broke the same day I first used it so be ware
Why did we not get to savor any of Jen Poppins goodness over here at Casa de Svendsen????
I'm so jealous! The Lockridges LOVE Jen's famous cookies. We might need to make a South Bay trip soon just for some yummy dessert goodness.
I ate at least half of Jen's cookies. Anybody counting points -- I am guessing 7 points per cookie at 11 cookies over two days. That's 77 points total in a mere 48 hours.
